Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a formal announcement concerning the temporary diversion of numerous flights scheduled to land at Salalah Airport to alternative destinations, owing to exceptional weather conditions.
In a formal statement, the CAA stated, "The Civil Aviation Authority has been diligently monitoring the weather conditions impacting Salalah Airport. In light of the exceptional weather conditions, a number of flights destined for Salalah have been diverted to alternative airports as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all passengers, in alignment with the Authority's rigorous regulations."
"The Civil Aviation Authority is actively collaborating with service providers to enhance the airport's landing systems, thereby augmenting its capacity to operate safely in adverse weather conditions. While these improvements are expected to significantly diminish the occurrence of future diversions, it is imperative to acknowledge that flight disruptions due to unforeseen weather conditions, such as low visibility or strong winds, can happen at any airport globally. Airlines are obligated to provide necessary assistance and support to passengers affected by flight diversions, in accordance with our Passenger Rights Regulations," the CAA further stated.
