Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a warning about thunderstorms and downdraft winds in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
According to a CAA statement: Due to continuing heavy rainfall expected, which may be accompanied by thundershower and downdraft winds over the governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta, and North Al Sharqiyah, with rainfall quantities ranging from 20 to 50 mm, resulting in the flow of streams and wadis.
According to the statement, there is a risk of rain of varied intensity, with thundershowers in portions of the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Dhahirah.
The Civil Aviation Authority has urged everyone to take safety measures amid the severe rain, avoid crossing wadis, and stay away from low-lying places. It also cautioned against sailing.
