Muscat: The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center has announced that severe weather conditions are anticipated to impact several governorates in the Sultanate of Oman.
Rainfall is expected to vary in intensity, with amounts ranging from 25 to 60 mm in Al Wusta and Al Sharqiyah, and 20 to 40 mm in Al Dakhiliyah and Al Dhahirah. These weather conditions may result in flash floods in wadis.
In addition, scattered thunderstorms and rain (10 to 25 mm) are likely in Dhofar and the Al Hajar mountain regions, which could lead to overflowing streams and wadis.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released a public advisory urging individuals to avoid crossing wadis, steer clear of low-lying areas, and refrain from sailing during this time. The alert also highlights the potential for strong downdraft winds with speeds ranging from 15 to 45 knots (28 to 83 km/h), as well as rough sea conditions with wave heights along the Arabian Sea coast reaching 3-4 meters.
