Rains Expected Over Oman Areas Till August 21

Muscat: According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a low-pressure trough is expected to impact the Sultanate of Oman for five days between August 17 and August 21, 2025.

According to the most recent weather updates and analysis from the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre, the CAA predicts that a trough of upper air with clouds advection will impact the majority of Oman's governorates. Over Al Wusta, Dhofar, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, and certain regions of Al Dakhiliyah, there may be sporadic rain of varied intensity and sporadic thunderstorms.

Daily weather report details for Sunday, August 17, 2025: Persistent cloud advection, sporadic rain chances, and sporadic thunderstorms across Al Wusta, Dhofar, South Al Sharqiyah, and North Al Sharqiyah. Over South Al Sharqiyah, Dhofar, and Al Wusta, the rain will get heavier.

Rainfall will be between 10-20 mm, which may result in the movement of certain wadis.

Moving unstable items are moved by strong downdraft winds with velocities between 1025 knots (20-50 km/h). Increasing dust brought on by downdraft winds and low horizontal visibility during storms are predicted.

Along the coasts of the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman, the sea will be rough, with waves reaching a maximum height of 4 meters.

On Monday, August 18, 2025, there will be continuous cloud advection and the potential for scattered rain with thunderstorms in portions of Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Dhofar, and Al Wusta. Over Al Wusta, Dhofar, and South Al Sharqiyah, the rain will get heavier.

The rainfall will be between 15-35 mm, which might cause some wadis to flow.

Movement of unstable objects anticipated as a result of fresh downdraft winds with speeds between 15-35 knots (28 65 km/h).

Thunderstorms cause poor horizontal visibility, and downdraft winds might generate rising dust. With a maximum wave height of 4 meters, the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman coasts are predicted to have rough seas.

With rainfall ranging between 25-45 mm, continuous clouds advection, and the possibility of sporadic rain and thundershowers across Al Wusta, Dhofar, between Tuesday and Thursday, August 19–21, 2025, may result in the flow of several wadis.

Movement of unstable things caused by strong downdraft winds with speeds between 15-35 knots (28-65 km/h).

Due to downdraft winds, poor horizontal visibility is anticipated during thunderstorms and rising dust.

With a maximum wave height of 4 meters, a rough sea is predicted off the coasts of the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman.
