OQ Salalah Unveils New Brand Identity

Muscat: OQ Salalah, a subsidiary of the OQ Group, headquartered in the Dhofar Governorate, has recently unveiled its new brand identity, OQ Basic Industries (OQBi). The event was graced by the presence of Ashraf Hamed Al Mamari, the Group CEO of OQ, alongside Hilal Ali Al Kharousi, the Chief Executive of Commercial & Downstream, and other officials and employees of the company.

This strategic rebranding is designed to fortify the group's approach towards maximizing investment returns in the region while establishing a distinct corporate identity for its subsidiaries, both domestically and internationally.

The newly adopted identity for OQ Basic Industries symbolizes the operational facilities within the Salalah Free Zone, Dhofar, which include three principal plants: the ammonia plant, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant, and the methanol plant. These facilities are of paramount importance to Oman's industrial sector, particularly in the advancement of clean manufacturing processes and the enhancement of export capabilities. It is noteworthy that the methanol and ammonia plants, in addition to 90% of the LPG plant's output, are destined for export.

The ammonia plant boasts a daily operational capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes, producing ammonia utilized in a variety of industries, such as fertilizers, industrial fertilizers, urea, cleaning products, and refrigerants.

With a daily capacity of 3,000 metric tonnes, the methanol plant supplies methanol for a broad spectrum of industrial applications, including the production of plastics, synthetic fibers, and medical and chemical products.

The LPG plant, one of Oman's most significant fuel processing projects, is playing a crucial role in enhancing the value chain of natural gas. Operating at a capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes per day, it produces propane, butane, and condensates. Locally, LPG is utilized for the supply of cooking gas to Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, thereby augmenting the added value within Oman. Furthermore, 90% of the plant's production is allocated for export.

The introduction of the OQ Basic Industries brand signifies a significant milestone in cementing the company's economic footprint in the region and bolstering the industrial sector. The brand's vision, "Leadership through global solutions and exceptional talent," encapsulates the company's ambition and dedication to fostering growth, implementing best practices, and maintaining a competitive edge in the global marketplace.

The recently unveiled identity for OQ Basic Industries is in harmony with the overarching goals of the OQ Group to bolster support for Oman Vision 2040. This initiative is centered around the pursuit of sustainable growth and operational excellence, which is achieved through the cultivation of a people-centric culture, the advancement of decarbonization efforts, the enhancement of energy efficiency, and the promotion of local development. This new brand identity serves as a testament to the company's unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, the advancement of clean energy sectors, and the pursuit of carbon neutrality. These efforts are aimed at contributing to sustainability, economic diversification, and the creation of future investment opportunities.

In an interview following the launch, Engineer Khalid Khalfan Al Asmi, the Managing Director of OQ Basic Industries, highlighted the significance of the company's new identity. As the energy investment arm of the OQ Group operating within the Dhofar Governorate, Al Asmi underscored the company's dedication to economic diversification and maximizing returns. He further explained that this new identity facilitates the measurement of progress in industrial initiatives and projects.
