Salalah: A workshop on Archival Experiences in Salalah encouraged coordinating national initiatives in document management, improving training and capacity-building programs, and using new technology for digitization and digital preservation.
The aim is to guarantee that documents are sustainable as an important element of national history.
This occurred at the conclusion of the 3-day conference organized by the National Records and Archives Authority at the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate.
The forum's final day featured three important sessions. The first session covered document sorting, including techniques and projects for sorting through actual case studies from the workplace. It also emphasized the importance of a public document sorting effort as a critical component of a document's life cycle.
The second session, titled Document Digitization and Storage Locations, included four presentations by various organizations describing their attempts to connect digital and physical conservation.
This included Oman Airports' experience in developing a document management center, a Nama Dhofar Services Company initiative, and presentations on Dhofar Municipality's files and the Environment Agency's secure document preservation project. The workshop was conducted in conjunction with the national push for digital transformation and cybersecurity.
