New Delhi: On Thursday, the Indian Union Minister for Power, Manohar Lal, in the company of the Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, convened a meeting with a delegation from the United States to deliberate on the prospects of energy collaboration between the two nations.
During the course of the discussions, the Minister for Power underscored the enduring bilateral relationship between India and the United States, accentuating the mutual commitment towards a 'clean' energy future that not only promotes economic growth and development but also underscores the importance of sustainability.
The Minister further articulated the Ministry of Power's dedication to fortifying this partnership.
He highlighted the necessity for collaboration, noting the significance of engagements under the 'Power & Energy Efficiency Pillar', spearheaded by the Ministry of Power as part of the Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP). These initiatives are crucial in realizing our objectives for achieving the energy transition.
H.E. John Podesta, the leader of the US delegation, expressed appreciation for India as a valuable partner, underscoring the mutual support in the development of resilient supply chains and investment-led partnership strategies.
He also mentioned the potential for collaboration in areas such as clean energy, energy storage systems, and energy efficiency, with an additional focus on the enhancement of India's manufacturing capabilities.
The meeting facilitated discussions on the exploration of technical exchanges aimed at upgrading grid transmission infrastructure to accommodate future load demands.
Conversations also encompassed policy consultations and the potential provision of financial support to further these modernization efforts.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed strategies to augment India's manufacturing capacity, with a focus on the development of state-to-state partnerships on long-duration energy storage studies and further collaboration on grid-scale battery storage solutions.
The discussions also shed light on the importance of stimulating manufacturing projects and policies to increase India's capacity to produce, deploy, and export high-efficiency air conditioning systems and fans.
