Muscat: Employers within the Sultanate of Oman are now able to verify the information of their expatriate employees and update their wages via the SPF e-portal, as announced by the Social Protection Fund (SPF).
In alignment with the government's initiatives towards electronic governance and in accordance with the SPF's mission to deliver distinguished services characterized by transparency, the SPF has introduced its electronic services aimed at facilitating service provision to employers through its e-portal: www.spf.gov.om.
Payment Deadlines:
The SPF issues monthly contribution invoices based on the data of the workers and their wages available on the portal. The next invoice is scheduled for August 31, 2024. The deadline for payment is set for September 15, 2024.
Important Actions for Employers:
Employers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the SPF e-portal and its functionalities. It is imperative to verify the data of both Omani and expatriate workers on the portal. Additionally, employers should update the wages of their employees (both Omani and expatriate) through the portal or relevant systems of government entities. It is also advisable for employers to regularly monitor the portal for any updates or notifications.
Controls for Registering Omani and Expatriate Insured Persons:
1. The registration of employment contracts for both Omani and non-Omani workers at the Social Protection Fund (SPF) is automatically registered and terminated through the bilateral linking of the following systems:
- Workers employed by government entities operating the Mawred/Rio systems
- Workers employed by government entities with a direct connection to SPF
- Workers employed in the non-governmental sector, including the private sector, through the Ministry of Labour system.
2. It is the responsibility of the employer to verify the data of their workers through the SPF's electronic portal. Should there be any discrepancies in the workers' data, it is necessary for the employer to rectify these errors through the systems mentioned above. For instance, if the data of an employer's workers in the private sector is not reflected in the SPF's portal, it is essential for the employer to contact the Ministry of Labour to ensure that these contracts are properly registered.
3. Employers of both non-governmental entities and government entities with a direct connection to SPF are required to update the wages of their workers (both Omani and expatriate) through the SPF's electronic portal, ensuring that wage updates are made promptly in response to any changes. For government entities linked through the (Mawred and Rio) systems, it is necessary to update the wages through these systems.
The calculation of the contribution bill by SPF at the end of each month is based on the data of the workers and their wages available on the Fund's portal. Therefore, it is essential for employers to verify the data of their workers on a monthly basis.
