Sohar: On Tuesday, Alexei Bogdanov, the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade in the Republic of Belarus, embarked on a visit to North Al Batinah Governorate with the objective of exploring investment opportunities and major economic projects within the region, including those in the Wilayat of Sohar.
During his visit, Bogdanov and his delegation engaged in a meeting with Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Busaidi, the Wali of Sohar. This meeting, which took place at the office of the Governor of North Al Batinah, was attended by a diverse group of businessmen and directors from various commercial establishments and ports within the governorate.
The discussion during the meeting was comprehensive, covering the current and future prospects in sectors such as ports, agriculture, fisheries, mining, petroleum, and converting industries, as well as logistic services supporting these projects.
Bogdanov and his delegation meticulously noted the advancements made in the development of the railway network linking the Wilayat of Sohar to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), spanning a distance of 303 kilometers. They also examined the key features of the governorate's ports in Shinas, Liwa, Sohar, and A’Suwaiq, along with their associated commercial and economic activities.
The visit also highlighted the importance of economic diversity and sustainable development, with the Belarusian delegation gaining insights into the rich heritage, environmental conservation, cultural attractions, and tourism opportunities present in North Al Batinah Governorate.
Following the meeting, Bogdanov and his delegation had the opportunity to visit Sohar Port and Free Zone, where they received detailed information on major commercial and industrial projects, both within the port and the free zone, including logistic services, container handling, and advanced industrial activities in the energy, metals, and petrochemicals sectors.
The briefing included discussions on investment opportunities and land leasing at the Sohar Free Zone, industrial projects, light converting industries, logistics services, or other commercial services that could be established within the governorate.
Additionally, Bogdanov and his delegation were briefed on the incentives offered to investors and the business community, as well as the one-stop-shop system designed to streamline the process of finalizing all necessary procedures, including clearance, permits, licenses, and approvals, in a single location.
