On February 15th, the university celebrated the inauguration of its first book titled "Strategies for Business Transformation- Accelerators for Sustainable Growth." The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed individuals such as His Excellency Dr. Said bin Hamad Al-Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shahri, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the university branch in Salalah, among others.
During the event, Dr. Nasser bin Salem Al-Bimani delivered a warm welcome speech, acknowledging the university's significant contributions in scientific research and various fields. Additionally, Dr. Aziza bint Abdullah Al-Qamshouai, Head of the Business Studies Department at the university branch in Al-Mussanah, provided an insightful overview of the book and highlighted upcoming research projects.
This book serves as a valuable resource in supporting Oman Vision 2040's objective of establishing a sustainable national economy and robust systems. In today's rapidly changing business environment, it is crucial for institutions to adapt and transform while maintaining a balance between economic, environmental, and social aspects, aligning with the principles of sustainable development outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
This edition stands out for its issuance with an international standard number registered under the University of Technology and Applied Sciences. It is the first edition to be recognized as intellectual property under the university's name, with all copyrights owned by the university. The book also includes digital identifiers to facilitate access and proper documentation.
These features have resulted in several expected impacts, including enhancing the university's academic and research capabilities, fostering scientific collaboration with researchers both locally and internationally, and establishing new avenues for cooperation with the industrial community. Additionally, the scientific material produced and registered under the university's name is being utilized in relevant courses.
The editors of the book emphasize the importance of prioritizing book editing and authoring in higher education institutions, aligning with the goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040. Notably, the book comprises fifteen chapters covering diverse fields, such as accounting, human resource management, digital marketing, education, and industrial sustainability. It features a total of 29 authors, including nine Omanis and 20 international contributors.
In this context, His Excellency Dr. Said bin Hamad Al-Rubaie, the primary editor of the book, stressed the significance of ongoing endeavors to establish a conducive environment for collaborative scientific and knowledge research among researchers from both inside and outside the Sultanate. Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shahri, the second editor of the book, highlighted that the release of the initial book will motivate researchers and university students to publish future books with exceptional scientific content, thereby contributing to the enhancement of national research capabilities.
Dr. Aziza bint Abdullah Al-Qamshouai, the third editor of the book, emphasized the importance of motivating university members to register diverse intellectual properties and safeguard them using appropriate intellectual property protection mechanisms like copyrights, neighboring rights, utility models, and others, to elevate scientific publishing and innovation metrics. This publication stands as a significant example of intellectual properties registered under the university's name.
She concluded by revealing forthcoming research initiatives, which include arrangements for a conference on artificial intelligence and business growth, and extended an invitation to researchers and authors to partake in the creation of upcoming specialized scientific books to be jointly published with international organizations such as Taylor & Francis and Springer Nature. The titles of these books include "The Significance of Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Business Practices and Utilizing Technology for Future Development" and "Digital Transformation in Customs and Taxation as a Catalyst for Economic Expansion."
