"Osara" Project: A Coastal Tourist, Entertainment Destination For Khareef Dhofar's Season

Salalah: The Osara tourism development, located on Raysut Beach in Salalah, stands out as a major tourist and entertainment destination during Khareef Dhofar's (monsoon) season in 2025.

This Omani youth-led initiative began in 2022. This year, Osara has undertaken development projects at several of its locations, including a renovated riverfront to improve the visitor experience. This included widening seaview sections, providing open sitting arrangements, and establishing restaurants and cafes with direct beach views.

According to Majid Samhan Al Mashali, one of the project's creators, the goal since its beginning has been to provide new ideas that are consistent with visitors' ambitions. We constantly try to build various 'Osara' facilities to improve the quality of the tourist experience.

He highlighted the addition of a new electric games section in the adventure zone this year, which will provide a secure and pleasant environment for children and their families.

In addition to the riverfront and recreational areas, the site includes a historic market selling Omani crafts and indigenous items for which the Dhofar Governorate is well known. There are also various retail shops strewn around the area, which help to promote strong families and local companies.

Osara also has a theatre that hosts cultural and entertainment activities for people of all ages, as well as quiet beachside sitting places that blend recreation and relaxation.

The Osara project has an ecologically beneficial aspect, since it was built of reclaimed wood, making it a prototype for sustainable tourism.

Osara receives help from Dhofar Municipality, the SMEs Development Authority "Riyada," and Salalah Port as part of attempts to promote youth projects and enable local entrepreneurs to contribute to the Khareef season's tourism activity.
