Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development has issued a ministerial order setting the beginning and conclusion dates for rehabilitation programs, assessment periods, and holidays for the 2025/2026 academic year.
This applies to all government and private rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities, as well as those affiliated with civil groups.
The goal is to build a holistic and integrated rehabilitation environment that promotes service continuity and stability, as well as the empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
The decision states that the 2025/2026 academic year for government rehabilitation centers - including the National Autism Center, Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Early Intervention Center, Cerebral Palsy and Physical Disabilities Center, Down Syndrome Center, Al Wafa Centers for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, and rehabilitation units - will begin on Sunday, August 24, 2025, and end on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
The first semester for supervisors, rehabilitation personnel, managers, and employees at these government centers will run from Sunday, August 24, 2025, to Thursday, January 8, 2026. The second semester will begin on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and end on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
The academic year for private rehabilitation institutions for persons with disabilities and rehabilitation centers associated with civic organizations will begin on Sunday, August 31, 2025, and end on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year for enrolled individuals in all government rehabilitation centers, private rehabilitation institutions for people with disabilities, and centers associated with civic organizations will begin on Sunday, August 31, 2025, and end on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The second semester will begin on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and end on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The decision also establishes timelines for transfer and admission processes for individuals with impairments in private rehabilitation facilities. The process for transferring handicapped persons enrolled in private rehabilitation institutions from one facility to another for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Monday, September 1, 2025, and conclude on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Furthermore, people interested in enrolling in government institutions and rehabilitation units will be evaluated from Monday, January 6, 2026, to Thursday, February 7, 2026.
The decision also lists holiday dates. The first semester break for supervisors, rehabilitation personnel, administrators, and employees in all government, private, and civil association-affiliated rehabilitation facilities for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and end on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The end-of-year vacation for enrolled individuals in all of these centers for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, June 28, 2026, and end on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The end-of-year vacation for supervisors, rehabilitation staff, administrators, and employees in government rehabilitation institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and end on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Private rehabilitation clinics for handicapped individuals and rehabilitation centers linked with civic organizations may run a summer program for their registered clients during the end-of-year vacation. This program will provide rehabilitation and other services upon written demand, as long as they occur between Sunday, June 28, 2026, and Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The decision also set dates for the First Family Guidance and Counseling Program for the 2025/2026 academic year, which will target parents of enrolled individuals in all government, private, and civic association-affiliated rehabilitation centers from Sunday, January 4, 2026, to Thursday, January 8, 2026. The Second Family Guidance and Counseling Program will run from Sunday, June 21, 2026, to Thursday, June 25, 2026.
