‘Future Pioneers’ Camp Kicks Off In North Al Batinah

Sohar— The third edition of the Future Pioneers camp, which aims to reach 50 pupils from the Directorate General of Education in North Al Batinah Governorate, began today at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sohar.

As part of a national initiative to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students, the five-day camp gives them early exposure to technical projects and startups. The objective of this program is to produce a generation that can address developmental issues with creative solutions and satisfy the needs of the knowledge economy.

The camp aims to foster an entrepreneurial mindset in participants by providing them with basic skills in entrepreneurship and the creation of technical projects, as well as improving their capacity for creative and innovative thought. The curriculum includes theoretical presentations and hands-on workshops centered around important subjects like innovation ideas, investment, the creation of early-stage businesses, and specialized training in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition, students will be urged to create entrepreneurial endeavors that meet economic goals and benefit the community.

Participants will learn about Oman's institutional ecosystem that promotes entrepreneurship, such as incubators, accelerators, and financial organizations, and will connect theoretical understanding with real-world application during the course of the camp. This method seeks to improve the possibilities for turning concepts into practical and long-lasting initiatives.

The camp, which was sponsored by a number of firms in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, will end with an awards ceremony for the top three student startup businesses. The financial incentives are intended to encourage excellence and innovation by recognizing the work done in creating projects with added value.
