Oman Records Trade Surplus Of OMR2.4bn

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's trade balance had a surplus of OMR2.454 billion by the end of May 2025. This reflects a 38.5% drop from the same period in 2024, when a surplus of OMR3.989 billion was reported.

Preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) show a 9. 6% decrease in the total value of commodity exports, falling to OMR9.639 billion by the end of May 2025, compared to OMR10.659 billion in the same period of 2024.

This reduction is mostly owing to a 15 2% fall in Oman's oil and gas exports, which totaled OMR6. 315 billion at the end of May 2025, compared to OMR7. 444 billion during the same period in 2024.

In contrast, Oman's non-oil commodity exports increased significantly by 7.2%, totaling OMR2.701 billion by the end of May 2025, up from OMR2.521 billion during the same period in 2024.

However, by the end of May 2025, reexports from Oman had fallen by 10.3%, totaling OMR623 million, compared to OMR695 million during the same period in 2024.

According to the data, the overall value of commodity imports to Oman increased by 7.7 percent, reaching OMR7.185 billion by the end of May 2025, up from OMR6. 670 billion during the same period in 2024.

On the other hand, the United Arab Emirates topped the list for non-oil export trade by the end of May 2025, with exports to the UAE totaling OMR485 million, representing a 22.9% increase over the end of May 2024. The UAE was Oman's biggest reexport destination, with a value of OMR248 million, and the country's largest exporter, with imports worth OMR1.651 billion.

Saudi Arabia was the second-largest non-oil exporter to Oman, with a value of OMR451 million, followed by India at OMR280 million.

In terms of reexports, Iran came in second with OMR109 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with OMR45 million.

Kuwait was the second largest exporter to Oman, with imports worth OMR731 million, followed by the People's Republic of China, which exported OMR698 million.
