Muscat: On Sunday, the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore hosted a ceremony to commemorate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore.
The event featured official addresses highlighting the mutual respect and appreciation for the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. Additionally, a postal stamp was unveiled to symbolize the enduring relationship between Oman and Singapore.
Two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were also signed during the ceremony.
The first MoU was established between Oman Broadband Company and Singapore’s ST Engineering Urban Solutions (STEURS), focusing on enhancing collaboration in the development of smart infrastructure and technological advancements in both countries.
The second MoU was signed between Oman Deep Ocean LLC and INNEOVA Life Pte Ltd, aimed at creating and implementing distribution management systems for Oman’s Deep Ocean Water (DOW) products in international markets.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Maj Gen. Idris Abdulrahman Al Kindi, Secretary General of the National Security Council; and Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs. From the Singaporean delegation, K. Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister of Law, and Dr. Mohamed Maliki Osman, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, were present, along with Syed Noureddin Bin Syed Hassim, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Singapore in Muscat, and various officials and diplomats from both nations.
Diplomatic relations between Oman and Singapore were established in 1985 and are regarded as a benchmark for successful cooperation across multiple sectors, including politics, economics, and culture.
