The Public Services Regulatory Authority has approved reduced rates on electricity consumption bills for residential customers (basic accounts) during the summer months. Additionally, the authority has announced that the price of electricity consumption unit segments for 2024 will remain the same as in 2023.
To mitigate the impact of rising electricity bills during the upcoming months due to increased temperatures and higher energy consumption, the Authority has instructed companies in the sector to apply the reduced rates from May to August. The Authority will monitor the implementation of these reduced rates by the companies during this period.
In May, the reduction rates for the three consumption segments varied. Customers in the first category (0-4000 kilowatts) will receive a 15% reduction in their bill value, while those in the second category (4001-6000 kilowatts) will get a 10% reduction. Customers in the third category (over 6,001 kilowatts) will receive a 5% discount.
For June, July, and August, customers in the first category (0-4000 kilowatts) will enjoy a 20% discount on their bill value. Those in the second category (4001-6000 kilowatts) will receive a 15% reduction, and customers in the third category (over 6001 kilowatts) will get a 10% discount.
