Over 1.7 Million Vehicles Registered In Oman Till Sept 2024

Muscat: As of the end of September 2024, the Sultanate of Oman has recorded a total of 1,728,931 registered vehicles, as per the most recent statistics provided by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Among these, vehicles registered for private use accounted for 79.6% of the total, totaling 1,376,221, while vehicles registered for commercial purposes numbered 251,305.

Additionally, the number of taxi vehicles has increased to 28,174, with rental vehicles also on the rise to 37,890. The fleet of government vehicles has expanded to 11,849, and the number of motorbikes has increased to 7,534.

Furthermore, there has been a notable increase in the number of driving school vehicles, reaching 5,247, and vehicles registered under temporary conditions (for temporary inspection, export, and import) have seen a rise to 8,575.

In terms of vehicle types, the count of taxi vehicles has seen a significant increase, reaching 28,174. The number of rental vehicles has also seen a notable rise, standing at 37,890. Government vehicles have increased to 11,849, and the number of motorbikes has risen to 7,534.

Moreover, the fleet of tractors has expanded to 1,256, and vehicles registered under diplomatic entity registrations have increased to 880.

In terms of vehicle color preferences, white has emerged as the most favored color, with 735,599 vehicles registered in this shade. Silver follows closely as the second most popular color, with 222,890 vehicles registered in this shade, while gray is the third most popular color, with approximately 166,549 vehicles registered in this shade.

Regarding engine capacity, vehicles with an engine capacity ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 ccs have seen the highest registration count at 939,398 vehicles. Vehicles with an engine capacity ranging from 3,001 to 4,500 ccs have seen a registration count of 386,743 vehicles. Vehicles with an engine capacity of less than 1,500 ccs have seen a registration count of 138,251 vehicles. Additionally, vehicles designed and manufactured to be towed or towed by another vehicle have seen a registration count of 48,083 vehicles.

In terms of vehicle weight, vehicles weighing less than 3 tonnes have seen the highest registration count at 1,568,048 vehicles. Vehicles weighing between 3 and 7 tonnes have seen a registration count of 50,115 vehicles. Vehicles weighing between 7 and 10 tonnes have seen a registration count of 38,094 vehicles. Vehicles weighing more than 10 tonnes have seen a registration count of 72,674 vehicles.
