The trained flight attendants assisted with the delivery, and a nurse among the passengers provided prompt support. The airline also emphasized the professionalism and preparation of its team, along with quick ground help, which enabled for a safe midair delivery and rapid medical help for both the mother and the newborn.
When the Thai citizen went into labour, the crew responded quickly, using their extensive training to provide a safe and pleasant environment for the delivery. According to the statement, the crew displayed amazing presence of mind and composure in assisting the guest through the birth with sympathy and expertise.
According to the statement, the pilots quickly notified Air Traffic Control (ATC), requesting a priority landing in Mumbai, where medical teams and an ambulance were waiting for their arrival. Both mother and child were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment after landing, accompanied by a female airline employee who offered continued support.
The airline stressed that seamless coordination between the cockpit and cabin crew, ground workers, airport officials, and emergency responders exemplifies its principles of agility, collaboration, and care.
Air India Express further stated that it is in touch with Thailand's Consulate General in Mumbai to help the visitor return to her home nation.
Captains Ashish Vaghani and Faraz Ahmed piloted the aircraft. Senior Cabin Crew Sneha Naga, together with cabin crew members Aishwarya Shirke, Asiya Khalid, and Muskan Chauhan, assured a safe delivery onboard Air India Express Muscat-Mumbai flight.
