Muscat: According to the Ministry of Social Development, a total of 123,491 individuals are benefiting from the social security scheme. By the end of the first half of 2023, 67,693 beneficiaries received a sum of OMR72,350,109 through the scheme. Additionally, 44 beneficiaries registered in the social security scheme received OMR29,352 as disaster assistance, while 140 "People with Limited Income" received OMR158,132 as disaster assistance during the same period.
Furthermore, 10,023 social security scheme beneficiaries received 'temporary', 'emergency', and 'special' cash assistance amounting to OMR925,549. Similarly, 820,693 "People with Limited Income" received OMR640,528 as 'temporary', 'emergency', and 'special' cash assistance.
The Ministry has implemented the Tamkeen program, which aims to empower individuals benefiting from the social security scheme and those with limited income to become self-reliant. As part of this program, 46 individuals, including 27 males and 19 females, have joined vocational programs.
In terms of social research, the Ministry has conducted various studies related to social security and disaster-related cases. The total number of these researches reached 77,140 during the first six months of 2023.
The Ministry also ensures compliance with the law, decisions, and regulations by supervising civil and vocational associations, Omani woman associations, and social community clubs. It oversees their general meetings and monitors their activities.
Moreover, there are a total of 66 Omani woman associations and their branches in the governorates, with a membership of 9,971 members.
