Muscat – Oman Sail, in collaboration with SeaOman, participated in global organizations on November 12, 2024, to commemorate Purple Tuesday. This annual event is dedicated to promoting accessibility and inclusivity, thereby reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the customer experience for individuals with disabilities and their families.
As part of the Purple Tuesday festivities, SeaOman organized a snorkeling excursion to the Daymaniyat Islands. This initiative invited a group of individuals with disabilities to immerse themselves in the beauty of Oman's waters and provide feedback on their experience during a roundtable discussion. The insights gathered from these participants will inform future service enhancements, ensuring that SeaOman continues to offer an inclusive range of services.
Khamis Mohammed Al Anbouri, the Director of Commercial at Oman Sail, expressed, "Our participation in the Purple Tuesday movement represents a significant step towards Oman Sail and SeaOman's goal of fostering meaningful, accessible connections with the sea for everyone. We are celebrating accessibility and are committed to ensuring that all individuals can enjoy the beauty of Oman's natural environment, which is in perfect harmony with our mission to provide inclusive, accessible water experiences that enable everyone to explore Oman's maritime heritage."
The commitment of Oman Sail and SeaOman to the Purple Tuesday initiative extends to actions aimed at promoting accessibility. This includes advocating for sailing and water activities to be accessible for all, ensuring inclusive marketing across various platforms such as social media, printed materials, and other communications. Furthermore, regular feedback sessions and surveys are conducted to better understand and address the needs of disabled customers, while disability awareness training sessions are scheduled to enhance staff understanding and service quality.
Oman Sail's dedication to inclusivity is highlighted by its SailFree program, launched in 2019, which stands as a pioneering para-sailing initiative in the GCC. Developed in partnership with sponsor BP Oman and the Oman Paralympic Committee, the program has introduced over 100 individuals with disabilities to the sport of sailing and has proudly represented the nation in numerous international regattas.
