Wellington: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, represented by its Cultural Attaché in Australia, has inked two cooperation accords with New Zealand's University of Otago and University of Auckland to assist Omani students wishing to pursue healthcare specialisations.
The initial agreement with the University of Otago focuses on improving academic cooperation through knowledge exchange and streamlining admission processes for Omani students in health and medicine programs. The agreement provides for the allocation of 20 seats each year for scholarship students, contingent on their meeting the academic admission standards, thus increasing academic qualification efficiency to the highest international standards.
The second agreement with the University of Auckland focuses on assisting Omani students enrolled in the Bachelor of Human Medicine curriculum. Under this arrangement, the Ministry will yearly supply the university with a list of nominated students, and the university will allocate five study seats each year for qualified students who fulfill the admission requirements.
Dr. Hamad Khalfan Al Nu'amani, Cultural Attaché at the Oman Embassy in Australia, stated that New Zealand universities are among the world's best for medical and health education, providing a wide range of academic programs and regularly updating curricula to meet the changing needs and challenges of the healthcare industry. He stated that the excellent performance of Omani graduates from New Zealand universities in a variety of health specialties demonstrates the quality of education and the completeness of the academic experience.
These signings are part of the Ministry's efforts to strengthen international collaborations and offer Omani students with high-quality educational opportunities in accordance with national development goals and to improve human resource readiness in key sectors.
