Foreign Minister Receives Bahraini Counterpart

Muscat: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, met with Dr. Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, today.

During their meeting, the two sides emphasized the longstanding ties between Oman and Bahrain. They also discussed the agenda for the upcoming session of the joint committee, which is scheduled to take place in Oman later this year.

Both countries are eager to sign new agreements and memoranda of understanding in order to enhance their cooperation and expand their horizons of collaboration.

Given that Bahrain will be hosting the 33rd Arab Summit on May 16, 2024, Sayyid Badr expressed Oman's confidence in the success of the summit. He believes that it will yield constructive results that serve the overall regional interests and align with the directives of Arab leaders, as well as the aspirations of the people in the region for security and peace. Sayyid Badr also expressed optimism that the summit will achieve further accomplishments that bring prosperity and strengthen joint Arab action.

The two sides also discussed regional developments and emphasized the importance of de-escalation. In this regard, both ministers stressed the need to focus on ceasefire efforts in Gaza, with the aim of reaching a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution and in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Najeeb Hilal Al Busaidi, Acting Head of the GCC and Regional Neighborhood Department, Dr. Juma Ahmed Al Ka'abi, the Ambassador of Bahrain to Oman, and several officials from the Foreign Ministry.
