The University of Nizwa is pleased to announce that its Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) program has received international accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) — an important milestone that places the university at the forefront of pharmaceutical education in the area.
This accomplishment represents the first international accreditation of its kind for a pharmacy program in Oman, as well as the first program at the University of Nizwa to receive such international recognition.
The ACPE accreditation confirms that the School of Pharmacy complies with globally recognized standards for academic quality, curriculum design, faculty expertise, and institutional infrastructure. It signifies a thorough review process that involves self-assessment, external evaluation, and numerous rounds of documentation, culminating in a rigorous site visit by the ACPE Evaluation Team.
The review noted several strengths, including the program's qualified faculty, strong leadership, student-centered approach, collaborative academic culture, and well-established connections with healthcare institutions like Nizwa Hospital. The school is also predicted to move to a state-of-the-art facility by 2026, which will improve its capabilities and student experience even further.
Dr. Salem Al Touby, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, commented on the occasion by saying:
“This recognition reflects the dedication and cooperation of our faculty, the strength of our curriculum, and our commitment to providing internationally benchmarked education that benefits both our students and the larger healthcare system. ”
The ACPE accreditation is valid until June 30, 2027. In preparation for future reaccreditation attempts, the School of Pharmacy has already begun executing a long-term action plan to ensure ongoing compliance and quality improvement.
This achievement elevates the University of Nizwa's status as a premier health education provider, creating new academic and professional opportunities for its graduates worldwide.
