St.John's: The Caribbean made four changes to their T20I team, which suffered a 5-0 series whitewash at home against Australia ahead of three matches against Pakistan, scheduled to begin on Thursday in Florida, USA.
The West Indies have named a 14-man team for the three Twenty20 internationals against Pakistan, with a few injuries forcing them to adjust their squad. Fast bowler Shamar Joseph, as well as batters Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze, and Johnson Charles, have been picked to the team in place of Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Brandon King, and Shimron Hetmyer, respectively.
Cricket West Indies stated that Alzarri will be rested for the series following his important contribution to their tour of the United Kingdom and the home series against Australia. The decision to rest the pacer is part of his workload management in anticipation of a hectic cricket season for the remainder of the year.
Evin Lewis, who missed the fifth T20I against Australia due to injury, has been ruled out of the match against Pakistan. CWI announced that Lewis would return home for monitoring before the 50over leg of the series.
Meanwhile, Shimron Hetmyer and Brandon King suffered side strains in the fifth and final Twenty20 International against Australia in St. Kitts. As a result, Hetmyer has been judged unavailable for the series, while King is still being evaluated to see if he will be available for the 50-over leg of the series, which begins on August 8 in Trinidad.
