Muscat: During a telephone conversation, the Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, conveyed the Sultanate of Oman's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the urgency to bolster efforts towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.
In a separate call, Sayyid Badr extended his sincere condolences and sympathy for the passing of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement.
He reflected on the significant contributions made by Ismail Haniyeh to the struggle for the rights of the Palestinian people and their fight for justice.
He underscored Oman's steadfast position on the Palestinian issue and the imperative to continue efforts towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace that secures the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Furthermore, he highlighted the detrimental impact of the assassination on the mediation and peace efforts undertaken by the active parties in the region, including the Hamas movement, which has expressed its readiness to engage in a ceasefire agreement.
In response, Khaled Meshal, the Head of the Hamas movement abroad, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the Sultanate of Oman's condolences and sympathy, commending Oman's support for the Palestinian cause and its pursuit of justice.
