Muscat: The Oman Switzerland Friendship Association has named Sheikh Saif bin Hashil Al Maskery as their new Omani Patron.
Sheikh Saif has an outstanding career in public service and diplomacy that spans more than five decades.
His prominent positions include Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and other international organizations, Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs at the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Undersecretary for Tourism at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Importantly, Sheikh Saif is a founding member and former chairman of the Oman-Switzerland Friendship Association, demonstrating his long-term dedication to promoting closer links between the two countries. His depth of experience, diplomatic acumen, and strong commitment to Oman-Switzerland cooperation make him ideally suited to take on this crucial position.
Sheikh Saif expressed his gratitude for his appointment, saying, "It is an honour to become the Oman Patron and continue strengthening the enduring ties between Oman and Switzerland, fostering collaboration built on mutual respect, shared values, and a spirit of friendship. Sheikh Saif will work alongside Vincent Maitre, the Swiss Patron, and the Oman Switzerland Friendship Association looks forward to their joint guidance and leadership as they continue their aim of enhancing the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Oman and Switzerland.
