Royal Decree Strengthens Organ Donation Framework In Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Health has indicated that the Royal Decree enacting the Organ Transplant and Donation Regulation Law marks a crucial advancement in fortifying the legislative structure of Oman’s healthcare system. This legislation responds to the increasing demand for organ transplant procedures as a viable treatment for patients experiencing end-stage organ failure.

His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, the Minister of Health, mentioned to the Oman News Agency that the law bolsters the National Organ Transplant Programme and guarantees the rights and safety of both organ donors and recipients. It carefully outlines the requirements and processes for organ donation, applicable during life or posthumously, while clarifying the legal duties and the responsibilities of healthcare institutions.

Moreover, His Excellency emphasized that the Public Health Law is essential for coordinating all elements pertaining to public health, including well-established concepts in this domain. It sets forth a thorough framework of scientific and practical guidelines, acting as a foundation for the healthcare system's interactions across various sectors. This law is in accord with Oman Vision 2040, reinforcing its objectives and aiding its aims to enhance inclusive healthcare services for everyone.
