Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) Directorate of Relations and Security Information has announced that there will be partial traffic closures in Muscat Governorate on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in preparation for the Ironman World Championship 2025. This event will feature swimming, cycling, and running segments.
The cycling portion will begin behind the W Muscat Hotel, proceed to the traffic lights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, make a right turn at the Royal Opera House Muscat traffic lights, and continue to the Culture roundabout.
From there, the route will retrace its path in front of the Ministry of Health back to the Al Sarouj traffic lights, where it will turn left onto Darsait-Qurum Road and head towards Matrah Corniche via Al Bustan and Al Wadi Al Kabir.
The course will then move to the Darsait traffic lights, turn left towards Ruwi, and proceed to the Wilayat of Al Amerat via Wadi Aday. It will return from the roundabout near the Al Amerat Police Station to Qurum through Wadi Aday and Wattayah, making a right turn at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs traffic lights before returning to the starting point.
Parking will be restricted on both sides of the roads along the race route. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance to minimize any disruptions.
