Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has reiterated its dedication to addressing children's issues and its collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) during a speech to the UNICEF Executive Board.
Oman underscored the significance of maintaining strong cooperation to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals and enhance the protection and welfare of children worldwide. This collaboration is exemplified by the forthcoming Country Programme for 2026-2030, which is in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan. The program will prioritize the expansion of early childhood and educational services, the enhancement of skills and opportunities for youth, and the assurance of social inclusion and protection for vulnerable groups, including children with disabilities.
Oman also voiced its support for UNICEF's Strategic Plan for 2026-2029, which places children at the core of the UN's initiatives. The Sultanate concluded its address by expressing profound concern regarding the worsening humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and urged the international community to take immediate action to safeguard civilians, particularly children.
