Oman Hosts Meeting Of Arab Association For Prosecutors In Salalah

Salalah: Today, the Supreme Judiciary Council, through the Public Prosecution, convened the fifth annual meeting of the Arab Association for Prosecutors in the Dhofar Governorate.

The gathering saw participation from numerous public prosecutors and attorneys general representing Gulf and Arab countries.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included the enhancement of Arab judicial cooperation to effectively combat crime, particularly cross-border offenses. Additionally, the meeting emphasized the importance of sharing criminal expertise and aligning perspectives to tackle common challenges arising from the rapidly changing nature of crime and its methodologies.

The meeting also recognized several outstanding professionals from the public prosecution and attorney general offices of member states. Assistant Public Prosecutor Fat’hiya Said Al Habsi, who serves as the Director General of Execution and Follow-up of Judgments, was awarded the annual accolade from the Sultanate of Oman.

Alongside the meeting, a specialized seminar focusing on crimes related to digital currency will take place, concentrating on investigation techniques for digital currency cases and the preservation of evidence, with member states exchanging their experiences in this area.

The hosting of this meeting in the Sultanate of Oman highlights the proactive role the Sultanate has undertaken since its membership in the Arab Association for Prosecutors on 16 November 2022. Furthermore, Oman was elected as Vice President of the Association for the Gulf Cooperation Council states on 29 November 2023.
