Dakar: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the State Council, participated in the 54th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which took place in Dakar, Republic of Senegal.
The Omani delegation at the meeting was led by Mohammed Salim Al Harthy, a Member of the State Council.
Malick Ndiaye, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Senegal, opened the session.
During the session, the election of the Parliamentary Union’s vice-presidents for the Arab and Asian sides took place, follow-up reports were discussed, and the schedule for upcoming panel meetings was reviewed.
Delegates from the participating countries addressed significant issues and challenges confronting the Islamic world, particularly the Palestinian cause. They emphasized the necessity of uniting efforts to stop Israel’s ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people and its violations of international law. Additionally, they called for actionable measures to foster peace and stability in the Middle East region.
The purpose of the meeting was to align the parliamentary positions of member states and to enhance legislative and oversight collaboration in support of the Islamic nation's cause. It also highlighted the significance of strengthening the principles of dialogue and collective action to tackle regional and international challenges.
