Muscat – The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) made a significant impact at the 9th Indian School Muscat Model United Nations (ISMUN 2025), with Deputy Executive Chairperson Ms. Aisha Al Kharusi acting as the Chief Guest at this historic event.
This year's gathering set a new record as Oman's largest Model United Nations (MUN) event, uniting over 800 student delegates from 21 committees that represented prominent international organizations such as UNICEF, UNHCR, WHO, NATO, and FIFA. The occasion was particularly poignant, aligning with the golden jubilee celebration of Indian School Muscat.
Ms. Aisha Al Kharusi provided the keynote address, honoring Indian School Muscat’s 50 years of cultivating future leaders and praising the organizers for their ambitious vision. In addition to the Deputy Executive Chairperson, the MCBS delegation enriched the conference with the involvement of Dr. Ayyapan Ayyappan Palanissamy, Supervisor of the MUN Student Club, who guided the team, alongside club leaders President Asma Barwani and Vice President Riyam Bouheni, who represented the college with great distinction. Also present were faculty members Mrs. Anitha Nair and Mrs. Aswathy Pillai, both esteemed alumni of Indian School Muscat, symbolizing the lasting educational collaborations that continue to enhance Oman’s academic environment.
The conference engaged students in authentic diplomatic situations, where they addressed urgent global challenges and fostered agreement across cultural boundaries. This practical experience aligns perfectly with MCBS's focus: producing graduates capable of navigating intricate issues with analytical prowess and cross-cultural understanding. Through events like ISMUN, students not only learn about international relations but also apply their knowledge, positioning themselves as bridge-builders who grasp both local contexts and global trends.
As MCBS marks 30 years since its founding in 1995, the college has introduced a significant initiative for new students: a 50% tuition reduction for the current academic year. This initiative alleviates financial obstacles while maintaining MCBS’s esteemed reputation for academic excellence. It embodies the college’s dual commitment to honoring its heritage and enhancing access to quality higher education.
Looking forward, MCBS will persist in reinforcing its presence in both international arenas and local collaborations, equipping graduates with global insights that are deeply rooted in the needs and aspirations of Oman’s development.
