Oman's Takes A Significant Step Towards Heart Transplantation

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is demonstrating commendable progress in the realm of healthcare. The Ministry of Health's endeavor to bring heart transplant services closer to home underscores the nation's dedication to delivering internationally recognized medical services to its populace.

The Ministry of Health has commenced preparations to localize heart transplant services as a component of the National Organ Transplant Program, scheduled to be completed by 2025.

Today, the technical committee responsible for heart transplantation within the National Organ Transplant Programme convened for its inaugural meeting, presided over by His Excellency Dr. Hilal Ali Al-Sabti, the Minister of Health.

It is important to highlight that the program has commenced the process of facilitating heart donations after death through the Ministry of Health's Shifa application.

Oman is committed to conducting heart transplants within its borders by the year 2025. This endeavor is a part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at promoting organ donation and transplantation.

The number of individuals registering as organ donors has seen a significant increase, with over 12,000 people having registered in the year 2023.

This advancement is poised to save lives and significantly improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from heart failure.

By placing a high priority on organ donation and transplantation, Oman is not only enhancing the well-being of its citizens but is also serving as an exemplary model for other nations in the region.
