Manah—. The international conference "Museums and Their Role in Tourism Development" will be held at the Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah, Governorate of A'Dakhiliyah, between May 18 and 20.
More than 42 scholars, academics, and specialists from 21 nations, as well as tourism and heritage professionals from both inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, will attend the event, which is being organized in conjunction with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the National Records and Archives Authority.
The three-day event will feature 42 different research papers covering a range of topics written by museum experts, scholars, and researchers. These include the educational and knowledge-based functions of museums through academic collaborations, the role of museums and heritage institutions in tourism development and cultural preservation, museum tourism and the cultural economy, and related investment opportunities.
The conference will also examine how contemporary digital technologies, such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence, may be used to improve the visitor experience.
In addition to the conference, an exhibition and three focused workshops will be held, bringing together researchers, academics, and representatives from government and commercial organizations to showcase the social, economic, and cultural effects of museums.
The conference, according to Yaqdhan Abdullah Al Harthy, Director General of the Oman Across Ages Museum and General Supervisor of the event, provides an international forum for sharing knowledge and best practices in the museum industry. He stressed that Omani museums should serve as sources of information and help the nation diversify its economy by promoting cultural tourism.
As the conference's Scientific Committee's head, Dr. Mohammed Al Balushi, took his turn, he mentioned that the committee had chosen 42 papers from more than 300 research summaries submitted from 21 different nations, based on standards for quality and diversity. He further said that the conference will also include scientific posters on display alongside the sessions, giving a larger forum for information exchange and showcasing cutting-edge research initiatives in tourism and museums.
