Muscat: Today, the Omani Film Society in Muscat unveiled the details of the upcoming eleventh session of the Muscat International Film Festival, set to take place from 3 to 7 March.
This year's festival will feature a range of competitions in various categories, including fiction films, documentaries, Omani short fiction films, and Omani documentaries, among others. In addition to the competitions, the festival will host a series of events such as seminars, workshops, and the Festival's Souq (Market), which will serve as a platform for production companies.
Throughout the five-day event, a number of esteemed film directors and movie stars will be honored. Among the honorees are Indian actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan, Director Satara from Iran, Nelly Karim from Egypt, Hoda Hussein from Kuwait, Abdullah Habib, Mohammed Al Kindi, Buthainah Al Raisi, Taghlub Al Barwani, and Khalil Al Sinani from Oman. Director Yaqoob Al Maqlah from Bahrain and Director Mohammed Bakri from Palestine will also be recognized for their contributions to the film industry.
Furthermore, the festival will host various accompanying events, including seminars and workshops aimed at familiarizing participants with the procedures required to obtain film production licenses in the Sultanate. These sessions will be conducted in collaboration with relevant authorities, providing valuable insights into the cinematic field.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the "Festival Market," a dedicated space for institutions, production companies, and artistic platforms. This platform aims to foster collaboration and bring together individuals interested in the cinematic industry, both locally and internationally. Through this platform, the government and private sectors can engage in cooperative efforts, exchange experiences, and explore promotional opportunities for cinematic production and artistic capabilities.
