Muscat: The Ateen Square celebrations in Salalah, hosted by Dhofar Municipality as part of the Dhofar Khareef Season 2025, have begun. The square, an integrated tourist, entertainment, and cultural destination for citizens, residents, and visitors to the governorate, will remain open until August 31.
Ateen Square has been redesigned this year to include entertainment, the arts, culture, and shopping, all set in an interactive environment that caters to the desires of many social groups, particularly families and youngsters.
The daily events feature a variety of entertainment options, such as environmentally friendly fireworks displays and drone shows that light up the Ateen Plain sky with spectacular visual effects. The Galaxy show, which includes space costumes and interactive lights, is joined by the Crew Show, which combines acrobatic feats and exhilarating athletic displays and is inspired by the international program Got Talent.
Ateen Square also hosts creative artistic performances, such as the Emoji Show, which presents 20 emojis in a humorous and engaging manner. It also includes shadow and fantasy performances by international artistic groups, such as the Mexican Latin Band and the Arjola Band. Folklore performances organized by UNESCO feature a variety of international cultural participation.
Daily carnival activities include the Music Carnival, which features European bands, the European Carnival, which is presented by Russian bands with oriental musical performances, the Hundred Carnival, which has 100 participants performing a variety of acts, the Peter Carnival, which features a female dancing troupe, the Hot Air Balloon Carnival, which features innovative costumes in the shape of balloons, and the Glowing Balloon Carnival, a light-based version of the hot air balloon show.
The square also features the Sultanate of Oman's largest inflatable amusement park for children, which offers a safe and enjoyable entertainment environment under the supervision of specialized teams to ensure child safety.
A highlight of the festivities is the Culture and Literature Street, which allows visitors to engage with numerous authors, poets, and visual artists via workshops and live artistic simulations that enrich the cultural scene.
This year, the primary stage of Ateen Square has a design inspired by the hilly landscape of Dhofar Governorate. It has a towering mountain that is backed by current presentation technology such as laser effects, interactive displays, and waterfalls, creating an integrated foundation for visual and artistic performances.
Ateen Square also has specific sections for showcasing local women's items, such as perfumes, incense, and clothing with a modern heritage aesthetic. This supports entrepreneurs of small and medium enterprises and strengthens women's participation in economic activity.
It is important to highlight that these varied events help to solidify Ateen Square's status as one of the Dhofar Autumn Season 2025's most notable landmarks, providing an integrated tourism, cultural, and entertainment experience that boosts the governorate's social, tourism, and economic activities.
