Muscat: A significant milestone has been achieved in the Sultanate of Oman as physicians successfully executed the inaugural heart transplant sourced from a brain-dead donor for an Omani individual experiencing heart failure.
This complex procedure was carried out by a collaborative Omani medical team comprised of various specialties and spanned five hours.
In a media briefing, His Excellency the Minister of Health highlighted that this accomplishment marks a pivotal moment in Oman's healthcare progression. He noted that the heart transplant from a brain-dead donor adhered strictly to top-tier medical and ethical protocols, aligning with both national legislation and globally recognized guidelines regarding organ donation.

Dr. Alaa bin Hassan Al Lawati, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Head of the Cardiac Surgery Department at the National Heart Center, stated, "The first heart transplant within the Sultanate of Oman was conducted seamlessly and with outstanding success.
