Khoula Hospital Successfully Treats Complex Brain Aneurysms With Advanced Technology

A specialized medical team at Khoula Hospital in Muscat has successfully conducted four innovative surgeries to address wide-neck brain aneurysms utilizing advanced medical devices. These devices provide a less invasive option compared to conventional open surgery.

Dr. Ahmed bin Hamoud Al Habsi, a Consultant in Interventional Neuroradiology, emphasized the advantages of this new technology, including its user-friendly nature, accurate treatment delivery, lower surgical risks, and the removal of the necessity for blood thinners when employing stents, thereby reducing potential complications.

These devices facilitate comprehensive treatment of aneurysms at their necks, broadening the spectrum of treatable cases, whether hemorrhagic or non-hemorrhagic. Dr. Al Habsi indicated that the team aims to address an additional 20 cases over the next two years.

Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi, the Director-General of Khoula Hospital, underscored the importance of this accomplishment, noting that it signifies a significant leap forward in specialized medical care, in line with the latest international standards. He further stated that it solidifies Khoula Hospital's status as a premier center for complex medical procedures and represents a notable enhancement for the healthcare landscape in the Sultanate of Oman.
