Muscat – In a historic milestone for the Sultanate of Oman and the wider area, the Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Center (SQCCCRC), linked with University Medical City UMC, has been officially recognized as a Center of Excellence in Supportive Care in Cancer by the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC).

This foreign acknowledgment makes SQCCCRC the first Middle Eastern center to get the coveted MASCC designation and places it among just 20 institutions worldwide renowned for excellence in comprehensive supportive care for cancer patients.

This distinguished international award highlights SQCCCRC's ongoing dedication to clinical excellence in oncology, compassionate and comprehensive patient care, and leadership in supportive care practices. And their commitment to the highest standards of patient-centered care, which includes physical, emotional, and psychological support throughout the cancer journey.

The designation places UMC in a small group of hospitals worldwide that provide supportive cancer care that meets the highest international standards. This accomplishment reflects the dedication, competence, and unrelenting efforts of the SQCCCRC multidisciplinary team, as well as their unwavering aim to enhance cancer patients' quality of life through holistic, patient-centered care.

SQCCCRC is now acknowledged as a worldwide leader in providing cutting-edge supportive care in addition to cutting-edge cancer treatment and palliative care, having achieved MASCC Center of Excellence status. The designation reinforces the center's position as a focal point for innovation, research, and best practices that benefit patients and their families.
