Heritage Ministry Organises Workshop On Medical And Wellness Tourism In Oman

Muscat: On Sunday, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism hosted a workshop focused on "Medical and Wellness Tourism in the Sultanate of Oman." The event was inaugurated by Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, the Minister of Health.

The primary objective of the workshop was to create a strategic plan for establishing a model of medical and wellness tourism, with an emphasis on promoting it at local, regional, and international levels.

During the workshop, participants explored various resources, experiences, and opportunities aimed at encouraging tourism and healthcare facilities to highlight their premier offerings and practices. Discussions included strategies for integrating medical and wellness tourism into the services provided by these establishments.

Additionally, the workshop assessed the preparedness of tourist destinations and the legal frameworks surrounding medical tourism, while emphasizing best practices and models for health services, investment, and tourism promotion.

Two panel discussions were held as part of the workshop, focusing on the capabilities of government hospitals, the readiness of private hospitals to advance medical and wellness tourism, and the current quality of services, safety standards, and required authorizations in the Sultanate of Oman.

The event was attended by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, along with officials from both the public and private sectors involved in medical tourism in the Sultanate of Oman.
