Algeria: The pavilion representing the Sultanate of Oman at the 27th Algiers International Book Fair, scheduled to conclude on November 16, 2024, witnessed a significant influx of Algerian attendees. The visitors demonstrated a keen interest in exploring Omani literature and publications, as well as delving into various facets of Oman's culture and history.
According to Said Salim Al Riyami, the Director of the Department of Introduction to Islam and Cultural Exchange within the Iftaa Office, Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the Ministry is actively involved in the fair with approximately 80 titles.
He elaborated that among these, 43 titles are available for purchase, while 41 titles are on display, authored by His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman. Furthermore, the Ministry has contributed to the fair with numerous publications from its Culture, Sports, and Youth Department.
The Omani pavilion at the book fair features a diverse selection of publications, highlighting the country's rich history and architecture. Notably, some titles explore the architecture of mosques and ancient shrines, jurisprudence, arts, and Arab-Islamic philosophy.
