Weather Update: Rainfall Expected To Continue Across Oman

Muscat: The National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards, under the Civil Aviation Authority, has issued a report indicating widespread cloud cover throughout the Sultanate of Oman. This meteorological phenomenon is attributed to a low-pressure system that has its origins in the Sea of Oman, predominantly impacting the northern governorates with intermittent rainfall observed today, Tuesday, August 5, 2024.

Aisha bint Jumaa Al Qasimi, a distinguished meteorologist at the Civil Aviation Authority, has provided insights into the forecast. She stated, "Predictions suggest that low and medium-altitude clouds will persist over the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, originating from the Sea of Oman. Additionally, there will be localized cloud activity over the Al Hajar Mountains and the adjacent regions during the afternoon and evening, potentially leading to scattered rainfall of varying intensities across the governorates of Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, North Al Sharqiah, South Al Sharqiah, in quantities ranging from 15 to 45 mm."

Furthermore, she mentioned that the Wilayat of Nakhal has recorded the most significant rainfall accumulation due to these weather conditions, with a total of 48.6 mm. This was followed by the Wilayat of Al Buraimi with 24.6 mm, then the Wilayat of Rustaq at 22.8 mm, as reported by the meteorological monitoring stations affiliated with the Civil Aviation Authority.
