The 'Tourism Sector Partners' meeting was organized by the Heritage and Tourism Administration of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate at Al Shahba Hall in Nizwa on Tuesday.
The event was attended by Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, as well as experts from the tourism sector within the ministry, officials, and representatives from hotel and tourism services in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The main objectives of the meeting were to strengthen collaboration with the private sector, align efforts, achieve mutual goals, and enhance service quality to provide visitors with a distinctive experience. This initiative is in preparation for the upcoming summer season in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and complements activities in Salalah and Dhofar Governorate during the khareef season.
During the meeting, Al Busaidy emphasized the significance of the tourism sector in generating employment opportunities, boosting economic growth, and contributing to the overall tourism industry. The discussions focused on key areas to effectively enhance the sector's competitiveness.
Data on tourism in Oman for 2023 showed a rise in visitor numbers compared to 2022. Additionally, strategies to support the tourism industry were highlighted during the presentation.
The meeting covered topics such as elevating tourism standards, incorporating local elements, and a review of the Tourism Law. The aim was to educate businesses on service excellence and encourage the utilization of local resources.
