Islamabad: According to ARY News, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is facing major disruptions to its international flight schedule after a Boeing 777 jet suffered a serious engine failure upon landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.
According to a PIA spokeswoman, the aircraft developed an engine problem as soon as it landed, forcing it to be grounded at the airport.
The grounding of the Boeing 777 has had a cascading impact on the airline's operations, resulting in considerable delays across several routes. One of the impacted flights is PK749, which was set to fly from Islamabad to Paris but has been postponed by 10 hours, with a revised departure time set for 1:00 AM local time, according to ARY News.
The PIA Boeing 777 problem had a ripple effect, affecting other routes, including Flight PK797, which was set to fly from Lahore to Toronto and departed 12.5 hours late.
According to ARY News, private airline flights PA430, which was supposed to travel from Lahore to Abu Dhabi, was delayed by 12 hours, while flight PK894, which was scheduled to fly from Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur, was delayed by 7.5 hours.
This incident occurs just shortly after PIA reopened Paris operations in January 2025, following a four-year hiatus due to a European Union prohibition.

Earlier, Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) dismissed allegations that Islamabad International Airport will be closed for eight days.
In an official statement, the PAA stated that such stories were incorrect, adding that in the days leading up to Independence Day on August 14, brief aerial activities for celebrations would temporarily halt arrivals and departures for only two hours on certain dates and times. (ANI)
