The inaugural annual student startups forum for the academic year 2024/2025 commenced on Tuesday at the "Oman Across Ages Museum" located in the Wilayat of Manah, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.
Held under the theme "Empowerment and Sustainability," the forum featured participation from 24 student companies representing various disciplines within the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS). This two-day event aims to showcase the significance of youth in entrepreneurship and to foster their innovative capabilities.
The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of HH Sayyid Loay Khalid Al Said, along with Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, the Governor of A’Dakhiliyah.
The first day included three visual presentations. The initial presentation focused on UTAS's role in supporting student startups, followed by a self-explanatory presentation titled “Experiences that Build the Future.” The final presentation highlighted innovative student projects across multiple sectors.
A distinguished group of experts and entrepreneurs, both local and international, contributed to the forum, sharing their insights on the future sustainability of startups.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, HH Sayyid Loay recognized the sponsoring companies and institutions, as well as the participants. He then inaugurated an exhibition featuring student startups in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, the Internet of Things (IoT), agriculture, environment, industry, education, health, sports, community service, and oil and gas. The exhibition also showcased 45 research posters and a dedicated gallery for the Muscat Innovation Complex.
