Muscat: On Tuesday, the Oman Society for Writers and Literati inaugurated the third edition of its Literary Creativity Award for School Students (2025–2026) at its headquarters located in Airport Heights.
Dr. Abdullah Khamis Ambusaidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, who was the sponsor of the launch, highlighted that the award signifies the active collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Oman Society for Writers and Literati.
He pointed out that such cultural initiatives enhance the educational landscape and broaden opportunities for creativity and critical thinking.
He elaborated that the previous two editions experienced remarkable growth, with the number of participants increasing from around 1,500 to over 3,000 across different award categories, showcasing strong student involvement and the award’s significance in promoting creativity.
In his address, Eng. Said Mohammed Al Saqlawi, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Society for Writers and Literati, remarked that the award is one of the sustainable cultural projects designed to cultivate emerging literary talents in Omani schools and to create an encouraging atmosphere for creativity in various literary domains.
The award is aimed at students from both government and private schools, including those with special needs, and is divided into three age categories and multiple categories as follows:
Young Category (Grades 1–5): Poetry recitation, classical Arabic poetry writing, and short story writing.
Adolescent Category (Grades 6–9): Poetry recitation.
Youth Category (Grades 10–12): Short story writing, classical Arabic speaking, literary text analysis, and poetry.
The top three winners in each category at the national level will be recognized, and their winning entries will be published in a special edition by the Society.
