Salalah: On Monday, an introductory workshop regarding the Vocational and Technical Education Programme for the Travel and Tourism track took place at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.
Organized by the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate, the event gathered specialists, academics, and students.
The workshop was inaugurated under the patronage of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar.
The programme included two visual presentations: the first concentrated on the implementation of the Travel and Tourism track and the preparations by Dhofar Education to activate it, while the second showcased inspiring Omani success stories in the sector, highlighting the importance of determination and innovation in forging a distinguished career path.
Additionally, a dialogue session titled "Vocational and Technical Education: Travel and Tourism Specialisation" was conducted, featuring Dr. Hamad Mohammed Al Mahrooqi, Dean of Oman Tourism College, Dr. Hassan Abdullah Eidid, an academic with expertise in tourism and event management at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah, Dr. Atoom Mohammed Al Khatheri, Director of the Department of Guidance and Student Services at the Directorate General of Vocational and Technical Education, Ministry of Education, and Dr. Abdulkarim Ahmed Al Mashaikhi, Assistant Director of the Department of Vocational Guidance and Student Counseling in the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar.
The workshop was designed to present the Travel and Tourism track within the vocational and technical education framework in Dhofar Governorate, underscoring its significance as a crucial factor for economic diversification in accordance with Oman Vision 2040. Additionally, it highlighted the contribution of educational and academic institutions in training and qualifying national talents, while also showcasing successful Omani experiences to motivate students and parents regarding the future prospects in this sector.
