Siemens-led Consortium Wins Signaling Contract For Hafeet Rail

Siemens Mobility, a division of Siemens, and its consortium partner Hassan Allam Construction, a leading Egyptian-based contractor, have been awarded the contract for the design, build, and integration of the Abu Dhabi – Suhar railway systems and integration by Oman – Etihad Rail (Hafeet Rail).

This project involves the delivery of state-of-the-art signaling, telecom, and power supply systems over a 303-kilometer-long railway link. These signaling solutions are specifically designed to withstand desert conditions. This project is significant as it will establish the first-ever cross-country railway network in the Middle East and Arab world.

The project aligns with the vision of connecting the different GCC nations through a Rail Network and will be fully integrated into the current and proposed Regional GCC railway network. The UAE - Oman Railway network (Hafeet Rail) will connect the port of Sohar in Oman to the UAE National Railway network at Abu Dhabi, which in turn connects all seven emirates of the UAE up to the border of Saudi Arabia.

By undertaking this historic project, both nations have set their sights on streamlining cross-border trade and enhancing the efficiency of the supply chain system. This will be achieved by connecting commercial ports and economic zones to the railway network, thereby fostering greater commercial and social connectivity between the two countries. Additionally, the project aims to establish links between industrial hubs, bolster the effectiveness of logistical services, and stimulate growth in various industrial sectors, economic activity, and tourism.

Andre Rodenbeck, the CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, expressed his pride in Siemens Mobility's role as a global market leader and innovation driver with over 150 years of experience in signaling and railway automation technology. He emphasized their commitment to supporting the ambitions and vision of the UAE and Oman.

Hassan Allam, the Chairman of Hassan Allam Construction, also expressed his pride in partnering with Siemens Mobility to deliver advanced signaling solutions that will ensure the safe and seamless transportation of passengers and goods between the UAE and Oman. He highlighted the successful collaboration between Hassan Allam Construction and Siemens in Egypt and the honor of extending this partnership to other important regional countries like the UAE and Oman.
