Al Buraimi: Nama Water Services continues to work on a number of important projects in Al Buraimi Governorate as part of its commitment to ensuring the sustainability of water services and water security. These activities encompass the creation of new water networks as well as the repair of existing ones.
Water network coverage in the governorate, which was previously installed, has reached 60%. This year, the business is working on six water network projects in new residential plans and regions throughout the governorate. These include Al Ghuraifa (Phase 2), which is part of the Northern Al Uqda plan, as well as various initiatives in Hafeet and Al Sunainah.
The total length of new networks built as part of these projects is around 20 kilometers, at a cost of OMR247,000 and an estimated 250 connections benefiting up to 12,000 subscribers. The completion rate has reached approximately 40%, with Al Ghuraifa expected to have 100% water network coverage by the end of the year.
Nama Water has undertaken rehabilitation projects in various areas of Al Buraimi Governorate, including Khadra Al Nadi, Sa'ara, and a portion of Hamasa village. The overall length of networks needing rehabilitation is around 50,000 metres with varying diameters, and the rehabilitation work is now 25% complete.
These initiatives focus on decreasing operational water losses caused by technical and operational hurdles linked with aging networks. In addition, they aim to improve service quality by providing water via new infrastructure that meets local and international drinking water material standards, which are regularly revised and monitored.
