In line with its mission, Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) aims to enhance the global cultural landscape through creative partnerships and productive exchanges with other prominent cultural organizations.

Recently, HH Sayyid Dr Kamil Fahad Al Said, Secretary General in the General Secretariat for the Council of Ministers and Member of the Board of Directors of Royal Opera House Muscat, paid a visit to Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Italy.

Accompanied by HH Sayyid Nazar Al Julanda Al Said, Ambassador of Oman to Italy, HH Sayyid Dr Kamil Fahad Al Said held discussions in Venice with Fortunato Ortombina, General Manager and Artistic Director of La Fenice, to strengthen collaborative relationships and explore opportunities for joint projects.

During the meeting, HH Sayyid Dr Kamil Al Said outlined the current goals of Royal Opera House Muscat within the framework of the institution’s overarching vision.

Ortombina expressed particular interest in Royal Opera House Muscat’s innovative marketing strategies, including the development of new fragrances by the renowned perfumer Roja Dove inspired by significant operas performed at Royal Opera House Muscat, such as Lakmé and Turandot.

Both parties found common ground in the exploration of new audience engagement tactics tailored to attract younger audiences, including targeted community and educational outreach initiatives.

The two opera houses also exchanged cutting-edge stage technologies and shared innovative best practices in the technical domain.

Expanding on the previous Teatro La Fenice tour in Oman of L’Elisir d’Amore in 2016, the discussion focused on future possibilities. This included the potential for Royal Opera House Muscat to host another opera title or an orchestra and chorus concert from Teatro La Fenice in the 2025-26 season.

During the visit, a tour of La Fenice took place, which left a lasting impression on His Highness HH Sayyid Dr Kamil Al Said. He described La Fenice as a grand representation of Venice's palatial architecture and one of the world's most famous and magnificent opera houses. With its timeless beauty, intricate artistry, and gilded adornments, the interior exudes a sense of splendor. This inspiring tour set the stage for collaborative discussions and exciting plans for the future.

Royal Opera House Muscat expressed gratitude for the opportunity to strengthen ties between the two opera houses. They acknowledged the success achieved through past collaborative productions and expressed pride in the international recognition of Royal Opera House Muscat as a premier venue. Accessing insights from His Highness Sayyid Dr Kamil Al Said regarding the innovative strategies and initiatives of Royal Opera House Muscat was truly gratifying.
